Osseointegration — the fusion between titanium and bone — is the silent miracle that makes modern implants possible. Protecting that process is the patient's most important job.
Week 1: Calm & cold
Cold compresses for 20 minutes on/off, soft cool foods, and absolutely no smoking. Sleep slightly elevated and avoid strenuous exercise.
Week 2–4: Gentle hygiene
Begin warm saline rinses, soft brushing around the site, and your prescribed antimicrobial mouthwash. Avoid disturbing the area with fingers or tongue.
Month 2–6: Routine returns
Most patients resume normal eating by month two. Continue 3-month check-ups with your implantologist for radiographic confirmation of osseointegration.
Lifelong care
Implants need the same hygiene as natural teeth — twice daily brushing, daily flossing or interdental brushes, and a 6-monthly professional clean.
